ART TO REMEMBER INFORMATION
All the grade levels have currently been working on their works of art for Art To Remember which is a fundraiser for the Old Union's art supplies. These works of art can be reproduced onto many sorts of items such as: a coffee mug, notebooks, cards, ornaments, key chains, and much more. Your child's work of art will originally come home as a magnet with an order form. I keep the original work for future school and community displays and send it home at a later date.
The works of art themes are :
Kindergarten: Picasso's "HAND HOLDING FLOWERS"
Each Kindergartener painted flowers with tempera paint, added stems and leaves with markers and crayons, and last touch I add their painted hand to give the illusion of holding the flowers.
First Grade: Mayan Sun Designs
Each first grader created a sun with a face and designs on it. In the corner the student added in Mayan numbers his or her current age.
Second Grade: Georgia O'Keeffe's Flowers
The second graders created their own flower work of art using O'Keeffe's style of " zooming in closer" into the flower.
Third Grade: John James Audubon's Birds
Each third grader selected a bird picture to create their own version of a bird in nature.
Fourth Grade: "Nearika", Mexico's Folk Art
Each fourth grader learned about Nearikas being a folk art yarn painting from Mexico. Instead of yarn, they learned to used colored markers in the "Nearika style" for their Art To Remember piece.
The Art To Remember packets will be coming to you after spring break. You will be excited to see your child's beautiful creation.
