I want to thank everyone for participating in the Art to Remember project. The students look forward to this activity every year. Your merchandise should be in the end of April. Enjoy!!
Another important item, the second grade, Sound Museum Program, was a success this week. The second graders created art prints for the art part of the program. The students created the print of a musical instrument of choice. The prints may be viewed in the main hallway.
First grade’s musical, Piggy Opera, will be at the end of April. These first graders are creating a pig picture for the program. They had to select which house, straw, wood, or brick, to put in the background. You may view these wonderful creations in the main hallway for the musical.
Third graders have just finished a different OP Art creation. This one involved a drawing of a sphere and the curved lines to show dimension and a checkerboard background. Another feature introduced was color. The color emphasis was making an intermediate color using a primary and secondary color. If you have a third grader, have your child tell you about it. These pieces should be up soon.
Fourth graders will be creating their famous clay Alamos this week. They made a paper template to trace onto the clay last week. They will experience slab construction and how to make the “façade” stand. The next step will be painting them with neutral colors to give an earthy effect. You may see these creations in the library at the end of April.
The kindergarten classes are finishing their drawings of manikins. They learned about Pablo Picasso’s different color phases and they had to select four different colors of their favorite color to use on the manikin. These pictures will be in the kindergarten hallway soon.
